Jeff Shy
Affinaquest was founded by Jeff Shy, a respected fundraising professional with over 39 years of experience in bringing innovation to the non-profit and educational advancement community. His career has been focused on developing and applying appropriate and approachable technologies for the advancement profession.
Jeff has experienced the information needs of the fundraising professional from every angle, by working as the Director of Development Services at the College of William and Mary, by founding his own business to create, market, install and support the use of dedicated software packages for fundraising at over 2,200 institutions, and by serving as a consultant to countless advancement professionals.
He has designed and directed the creation of fundraising systems on eight different database architectures over the past thirty years, in keeping with the evolving world of IT. He has made sure that fundraisers could be on the leading edge of those changes, moving from mainframe to minicomputers, to personal computers running Windows, to Internet-centric applications.
He is uniquely qualified to lead the effort for the next exciting development in our industry – Software as a Service (SAAS) – by building a comprehensive CRM database system using the Salesforce platform.
David Lawson
David brings more than 25 years of experience as a social entrepreneur dedicated to bringing innovative information and technology solutions to the nonprofit community. He is the Co-founder of WorkingPhilanthropy.com, a company providing training and consulting to both nonprofit organizations and the companies that serve them.
David began his career as the editor of The Foundation 500. In the 1980’s he founded The Information Prospector, a firm that profiled philanthropists. In 1988, he introduced Securities Prospector, the first asset-based wealth screening service. In the early 1990’s he was a senior consultant with Thomson Wealth ID where he created the first software program to manage screening results. In 1997 David founded Prospect Information Network (P!N) which became the largest wealth screening service before being purchased by Kintera in 2004. Lawson was a senior vice president with Kintera until March of 2008. Most recently David was the President, Screening & Analytics for DonorTrends, Inc. where continues as a Strategic Partner. In 2001 David co-founded The WOW Institute, an experiential training organization for fundraisers and philanthropists.
He is a frequent speaker, contributor to trade publications and a contributing author to Major Donors: Finding Big Gifts in Your Database and Online and People to People Fundraising: Social Networking and Web 2.0 for Charities.
He is an APRA Distinguished Service Award and CASE Steuben Apple Award for Excellence in Education recipient and a member of APRA and AASP.
